Sherman N. Shroyer, 89

Sherman N. Shroyer, of Kettlersville, a 1979 retiree of Miami Industries of
Piqua, died at 1:32 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, 2001, at Fairhaven Shelby
County Home in Sidney. He was 88.
He was a member of the Immanuel United Church of Christ in Kettlersville.
He was born Sept. 1, 1913, near Quincy, a son of Oscar and Olive (Kaiser)
Shroyer. On Jan. 15, 1936, he married Irma Topp, who died on Dec. 7, 1993.
He is survived by two daughters, Shirley (Bill) Opperman of Colon, Mich. and
Carolyn (John) Shumate of Kettlersville; two sisters, Dorothy “Dottie”
Teeters of Fort Loramie and Helen (Paul) Pulfer of Maplewood; a
sister-in-law, Margaret Shroyer of Botkins; 10 grandchildren; and 21
great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Shroyer; a son, James Shroyer;
a sister, Viola Evans; and four brothers, Earl, Wilbur, Harold and Arthur
Shroyer.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Immanuel United
Church of Christ in Kettlersville, with the Rev. James Melter officiating.
Burial will follow in Glen Cemetery in Port Jefferson.
Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home
in New Bremen, and from 12:30 p.m. until time of service at the church
Sunday.
Memorials may be made to the church memorial fund or to the Wilson Hospice
Care in Sidney.
