I read with interest your extensive research on the FRENCH family, primarily
for interest as all genealogy holds some interest for me.....but, when I came
to Stephenson and the Virginia information....I was most intrigued. Do you
have other information on the STEPHENSON family? What I gleaned from you
query is that iv. JOHN FRENCH b. February 02, 1794, Dumerston, Windham,
Vermont (or NY) mar. ANNA STEPHENSON on April 15, 1819 in Clark Co., Ohio;
she was b. abt. 1801 in Virginia, dau of DAVID STEPHENSON AND MARTHA MCCLURE.
................I would be most interested in the area of Virginia, any
clues, hints, etc....that might help in my search for : Edward STEPHENSON
(Stepherson) b. ca. 1726 in Delaware mar. ca. 1750, Margaret McNEIL b. ca.
1730 York, Pa. and their child Jennett "Jane" STEPHENSON (Stepherson) b.
Oct 23, 1765 Delaware , mar. Dec 15, 1795 to John STAFFORD in Monongalia Co.,
Virginia,,,,they both died in Monongalia Co. Could you search your records
for any grand parents, brothers, sisters, children of your Anna, David and/or
Martha (McClure) STEPHENSON?
The McCLURE name is also among the branch names for which I am searching.
I have a Thomas McClure who married April 16, 1793 my Elizabeth DOWNEY b.
ca 1775. Both of these families were in the Shenandoah Co., Virginia
area...thus, you see my interest in your related research.
Also of interest is your source....... "Jolene Dodge"....... The
DODGE name figures prominently in my husband's family, with his gggrandmother
being Lucinda DODGE b. Nov. 27, 1833 dau. of John F. Dodge and Zelia
Grinnell, both with upper east coast lineage. (the Grinnell's and Rudd's back
to the Mayflower) I am searching for information on John F. DODGE and his
brother Joseph D. both born in N.Y......Joseph born in Montgomery Co. and
both lived in Onondaga Co., New York bef. their 1840 move to Cass Co.,
Michigan. AGAIN, any clue, hint or suggestion on these lines would be most
appreciated. I know this is quite a "winger" but I am leaving no leaf
unturned in my attempts to punch a hole in my "brick wall". Thanks for
listening , if you can help (in any way) please contact me at
again.............Susan
