It's been awhile since I've addressed this group, but I'm hoping there may be
new members since the last time.
Seeking information on the VERAX family. Edmond and Mary Anne Verax moved to
Adams County from Campbell County, KY, approximately 1875, and settled in
Rome (Stout). Edmond was a Frenchman who arrived in the US about 1865. He
was a farmer in Adams County until his death in October 1894. He was also a
friend of the Honorable George Pendleton. In 1900, Mary Anne and their
children returned to Newport, KY. Children were: Elizabeth, George,
Edward, Charles, William, Harry, and Mary Rose. There were also two older
children from Mary Anne's first marriage, Carrie and Henry Hitter. Henry
Hitter is buried in Adams County. Carrie and Elizabeth both probably married
and stayed in Adams County. Charles returned to Adams County in the early
1910s and his family still lives there. Others stayed in Northern Kentucky
area, and have left several descendants.
Has anyone uncovered information about this family (1875-1900) while studying
their own families? Am particularly interested in learning more about
Edmond. He is my g-g-grandfather.
Thanks.
MaryAnn (Verax) Meyer
