I am looking for the parents of Rachel Pence, born ca 1828 in OH. Rachel
died 4 Sep 1885 and is buried in the Nevil Cemetery. She married first John
Matheny in 1846 Adams Co. What became of John Matheny and who were his
parents? She married second William Nevil in 1853 Adams Co. Rachel's
mother was Elizabeth, born ca 1802/05, who was living with the William Nevil
family in Meigs Township in 1870 and in 1880. The death and burial of her
mother are not known. Elizabeth Swearingen who married Elijah Pence was
born in 1797 and died before 1880. This leaves Elizabeth Moore who married
Aaron Pence. Since Aaron died in 1861, Elizabeth would have been alone in
1870. Rachel is shown on the Meigs Twp. map in the 1880 Illustrated Atlas.
Peter Pence and Samuel Pence are shown with property in the vicinity of
Rachel Nevil. Could they be siblings?
