Thank you. Yes, I've seen this information before. I believe that it is from one of the grandchildren or even g-grandchild of Mary A. Butt and is quoted from "History of Brown County, Ohio" or something similar. I wish that the author of that had been Mary A. Butt, herself, since I would then put alot more 'stock' in the story.

There is evidence that the family came from Maryland. There is also evidence that they lived first in Mason or Bracken County, Kentucky - just across the Ohio River from Brown County, Ohio. At that time it is almost certain that Mary A. Butt's husband was still living.

I keep hoping that somehow & somewhere a descendant of Mary and her unknown husband have a family Bible or other record that's been hiding away in an attic for lo these many years - and that will give us the certainty that we need to understand these relationships.
