Message Board Post:
My father ( the only off spring )was born in Manchester on June 2, 1926 to Cassius Shelton Thompson and Chlorine Baldwin Thompson.
My father is C.S. Thompson Jr and deceased in 1990. Chlorine died in apx 1936-1940 and is buried next to her mother Stella ( I think maiden name was- Boone< I think from Maysville area) Baldwin Christman in a cemetary in Manchester. Also at that family site is Ruth Baldwin Paul another daughter of Stella.
This email is my first in an attempt to put together some data on my Adams County Hertitage.
CS Thompson SR was a barber and a baker I think, and Chlorine was a dressmaker or milliner who I believe owned a shop in Manchester. She died of brain cancer at a young age, and I am led to believe that there was a lot of effort and press at the time of her death to try to find a way to help her.
My father joined the Army from Adams County, I believe and it would have been about1946.
I have no knowledge about the Boone- Baldwin side of the family, and nothing prior to my grandfather on the Thompson side. I know we had some kind of relatives in Manchester that were known as Merle and Austin. they were brother and sister, I think and he was a carver or stone cutter who worked on Mt Rushmore. they lived in a big white house that faced the river (Front Street?) on the East side of town, I believe.
This is a very new process to me, so if anyone can help to point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.
Lynn Thompson Linton
