I'm looking for information on Jacob Higbee who was born in Adams,
Brown, or Clermont County Ohio About 1815. I'm primarily interested in
finding out who his parents were, though I'm also interested in other
info about him as I don't currently have much more than the 1850 Census
to go on. I know he died sometime before 1870 and that he married Lavina
Poe 10 Oct 1836. Lavina was born About 1818 in Claremont County, Ohio. I
have some info on their children, but it's rather limited. I'm related
to them through their son Andrew J. Higby who was born about 1851.
I think the spelling of the name changed from Higbee to Higby after
Jacob died. I'm guessing because Lavina didn't know how to spell it,
because the spelling change seems to have occurred right after Jacob's
death. At the time of his death, I believe they were living in Clermont,
and shortly thereafter, Lavina picked the family up and moved over to
Brown County.
