Subject: [OHADAMS] Family of Jacob KEPLINGER/CAPLINGER, 1850

Good morning, everyone. The family of Jacob CAPLINGER is listed on the
1850 census for Adams County, Franklin Township. The abstract of the
census that I have seen does not include the name of Jacob's wife except
to show that the name begins with a C. Perhaps the name was not given
on the original document or is unreadable. The family is listed as
follows:

Jacob CAPLINGER, 39, Male, Farmer, b. OH
C.? CAPLINGER, 39, Female, b. OH
Mary or May CAPLINGER, 15, Female, b. OH
Lucinda CAPLINGER, 12, Female, b. OH
Leah CAPLINGER, 9, Female, b. OH
Riley CAPLINGER, 7, Male, b. OH
Mahala CAPLINGER, 2, Female, b. OH
Sarah CAPLINGER, 5/12, Female, b. OH

Information given by William Riley KEPLINGER at the time of enlistment
in the Civil War states that he was born in Highland County.

By 1860, the family was living in Benton Township of Pike County and the
wife's name was given as Christina. The children are listed as
Riley, 18
Rebecca, 15
Sarah, 13
Mahala, 11
Jonathan, 9
Isaac W., 7

I'm searching for any information on this family, especially
verification of the name of Jacob's wife, whether Christina is the
mother of the children listed in 1860, and any connection Jacob
CAPLINGER/KEPLINGER/KAPLINGER may have to other families of the same
surname in the Adams County area. I have information on this family I
am willing to exchange with any interested family researchers. Thanks
for any help. Jean in WV
