Hi Denise,
In 1850 my 72 year old ancestor Daniel Matheny had a young student named Collins living with him and his wife. He also had a son named John Collins Matheny, and I know of a second man of a different family, same time, named John Collins Matheny. I am wondering if there is a connection between these two surnames. My Daniel had sisters that I haven't found, do you know of any Mathenys in your Collins line? (These Mathenys had come out of the Berkeley Co VA area 50 years before.)
