Jim,
I found a Thomas Washburn, died Adams Co.,Ohio 4-17-1926; Vol# 5006;Cert# 20961. Did not find any death listing for any Eliza Jane Washburn.
In checking the 1860 census forward for Thomas & Eliza Washburn in Adams Co., Ohio, they resided in Meigs Township during all census up to & including 1920. Thomas is listed as a widow, born 10-1839(he is listed as being born anywhere from 1833/1839 in all the census) in the 1900
Adams Co., Meigs Twp census, with son John, born 1-1884;if this is your Thomas. Did he have a son John? Also listed as a widow(76)in the 1910(& 1920 census) census with son Eddie(Thomas E.)29,Eddie's wife Fannie, 23 and their son Harry B.,6. Thomas is not listed in the 1930 Adams Co., census, so this probably means that he died before then. Possibly the one I found, 4-17-1926 may belong to you.
So, I would say that Thomas & ELiza Jane are buried somewhere in a cemetery in Meigs Township,Adams Co.

1867 through December 19, 1908 deaths:

Ohio made it a law to record deaths in 1867. County probate courts kept death records between 1867 and December 19, 1908. There is no statewide index to death records from 1867 through December 19, 1908. The address for the Adams Co. Court House is: Probate Court,Adams County Court House,110 West Main Street, West Union,Ohio 45693;phone 937-544-3286.

December 20, 1908 through December 31, 1944 deaths:

The state of Ohio began issuing certificates for deaths on December 20, 1908. The Ohio Historical Society holds death certificates for the entire state of Ohio from December 20, 1908 through December 31, 1944. The address is:

Ohio Historical Society
Research Service Department
1982 Velma Ave.
Columbus, OH 43211- 2497
(614) 297 - 2510

I will check out the Adams Co., cemetery books here at the Greene Co.,Xenia, Ohio library to see what I can find. They have a great genealogy section. And I may be going to the Adams Co Historical Society myself on Thursday. If I do, I can check for you at the Probate Court & I know for a fact that the Adams Co. Health Dept also has death certs. I have purchased probably more that 30 there( back when they cost $1.00).

Hope I have been some help to you.

Sharon

Families I am researching in Adams Co., Ohio: Frump,Flaugher,Kennedy,Smittle,Kesler,Adams,Burns
