Hi,
I hope this posting hasnt come through more
than once.I am looking for help on an old family
mystery we are trying to solve.
My GGG Grandfather was John Miller and I believe
his parents were David and Rachel Kirkendoll Miller.
David and rachel were married in Ross County Ohio in
1815 and later followed many other Ross County families
to Allen County Ohio.John Miller married to Matilda
Powers or Bowers in Allen County in the 1830,Matilda was
the daughter of Michael and Mary Powers also originally
from Ross County.Sometime probably before 1840
John Miller is said to have shot a man, maybe a shoe cobbler.
He then fled Ohio and moved to Moultrie County Illinois
where he lived out his life as John Kirkendoll. This is an
old family story told by every branch of this family we have
encountered,we have researched it and believe it is true.
John had one son Amos born in 1835 or 36 who kept the name
Miller,Amos lived with someone else maybe his grandparents
or possibly someone else until between 1850 and 60,he was living
with his father John Kirkendoll in 1860.John may have been married
before Matilda and Amos may have lived with his mother.
If anyone has heard anything like this in their family or has any
relevant info or clues please email me.
