Allen County Surnames: All three families originated in Germany.
HALM - Came from Pennsylvania Dutch Country around 1827
Earlier spellings - HALMS, HOLMN
Simon Halm was a carpenter; his daughter Lucie was my
grandmother
KRYDER - Came from Pennsylvania Dutch Country
Earlier / alternate spelling KREIDER
Elizabeth Kryder m. Abraham Halm in 1820 in Centre County,
PA and moved to Bucyrus, Ohio in 1827. They had eight children, including
SIMON HALM, who married SOPHIA STUMP.
STUMP - Came from Pennsylvania Dutch Country.
Alternate spelling Stumpf.
There was a large group of Stumps in West Virginia but we
think this group came from Pennsylvania with the other Pennsylvania Dutch.
WILLIAM STUMP (b. 1798 in Berks County, PA) was the father
of Sophia, grandmother of LUCIE HALM.
Many thanks to anyone who can find a connection or has information.
