Samuel and Christian Metzger were children of Phillip and Philipena (Schuetz) Metzger who came to America in 1835. They settled in Marion County, Ohio and much info can be found by accessing the Marion County Ohio Genealogical Society website.

My ggrandfather Christoph Friedrich Metzger, born in 1832 in Germany, d Nov. 12, 1922 in Auglaize County, is a brother to Samuel and Christian.

I show that Christian was born about1837 in Marion County, and married a Catharine Merle in May of 1861, also in Marion County.

I don't have much info on Samuel, born about 1841 in Marion County.

Other siblings were Philipp b. 1830 in Germany; Phillipena, b. 1835 in Germany; Catharine, b 1840; John b 1844 and Christina, his twin; and Amelia, born 1849.

Fredrick Metzger moved to Allen County after his marriage to Elizabeth Croft in 1857. They homesteaded in Auglaize County building a log cabin until a large house was built in later years. This was where my grandfather, Melvin F. Metzger was born in 1878.

This family's children all lived around the Spencerville area, where my father Richard R. Metzger was born in 1908.
