Subject: [Allen Cty List] KING family deaths-Milk sickness-1857
Date: Sat, 21 Feb 2004 10:02:08 -0600
In July 1857, my ggGrandmother, Sarah KING, wife of Timothy H. King, and
5 of their 7 children all died of milk sickness within days of each
other (6-12 July). Timothy and 2 children survived. Sarah and the 5
children are all buried in Ward Cemetery at the intersection of Hwy 81
and Thayer Rd.
Surely this tragic story would have made the newspapers at that time.
Unfortunately, this time period is missing from the microfilms at the
Allen County library.
Does anyone know of any other news source that might have reported
details of this story? Or are there original newspapers (other than
microfilm) that are stored in other archives that could be searched. I
will be in Allen county this spring for research.
This is a major event in my family history and I really want to get more
details for our family history.
Any ideas?
Many many thanks
