Albert SHAFFER, who was arrested several days ago, on complaint of his wife,
who alleged that he had threatened to kill her, failed to show up in the
mayor's court yesterday and his bond was forfeited. He is believed to have
gone to Dayton.

The will of the late Isabel HERRING was admitted to probate yesterday and
Hiram I. HERRING named as executor. There are no children and the husband is
made beneficiary for the entire estate.

The first meeting of the creditors of Henry MOWERY, a bankrupt, was held
yesterday in Referee MOWEN's court
and W.M. BOWSHER, of Hume, was elected trustee. Bond was given in the sum of
$ 4000.

Lizzie McALISTER, colored, charged with fighting by Charles MOSS, who says
the accused hit his mother over the head with a beer bottle recently on
Rowlands Row, went into Justice DEMPSTER's court yesterday and changed her
plea to guilty and was assessed the sum of $5 and the costs, in all, $11.60,
in default of which she was taken to jail.

William VAN RIPER, recently arrested by the Humane Officer on the charge of
unlawfully and willfully abandoning his four minor children, and with
failure to furnish them with proper food, clothing or shelter, was fined
$100 and the costs of the prosecution by Justice DEMPSTER. On the promise of
the defendent to take care of his children, the fine was suspended.

Frank ROSER, a well-known Shawnee township pumper, is seriously ill with
disease of the liver. His recovery is not considered probable.

Miss Mell CASEY, of 707 north Union street, and Mr. J.I. WARWICK, of
Columbus Grove, will be married Wednesday evening at St. Rose's parsonage.
They will reside at Columbus Grove.

Mr. Charles KRIGER was stricken with paralysis Sunday evening at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. H.C. THEW, of south Main, and his condition is regarded as very
critical. Mr. KRIGER's home in Ottawa, from which place his mother and
brother were summoned Monday morning. He was formerly in the employ of the
MOORE Bros. Co.
