If you get any blank pages, use your "refresh" arrow.
Sometimes the site will be down for maintenance just prior to 8am Eastern.
When you get there, type in your zip code, and then click on Ohio (or
whatever state you wish to check). These are the records of the eastern
states that were settled later than the 13 original colonies. If no results
come up for your surname, try just the
first few letters plus the % character. Example: Typing the letters Top%
will give all surnames beginning with Top, like TOPPER. Typing Shr% would
give Shreve and Shreffler and other names.
Double click on any name that looks familiar. Then go down to "view
document". It takes about a minute to load the scanned in handwritten
original document. If you wish to print the document, go up to File on the
task bar; go down to Print. It is free and printable right off the website.
