Obituary(9): George Peter Wolf, one of the well-known and highly respected
farmers of Hanover
township, living about 3 miles south of town, died on last Saturday morning
at
9:30 o'clock aged 76 years, 2 months and 8 days. Deceased was born in
Bavaria,
Germany, on September 11, 1817. When about 18 years of age he came to
America
and spent about three years in Florida, when he returned to the fatherland,
but
later made a second journey to America and settled in Tuscarawas County,
Ohio,
where in the year 1840, he was married to Miss Elizabeth Meitzler. About
ten
years later, he and his family moved to Ashland county where they became
among
the foremost people of this locality. The widow and three children, two
sons
and one daughter, survive, three children having preceded the father to the
life beyond. 'Squire Wolf was an honest, honorable and upright Christian
citizen and his death is deeply deplored by his neighbors and many friends.
For
about two years he has been suffering with stomach trouble which finally
caused
his death. The funeral services were held Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock in
the
German Evangelical church, Rev. C. Christiansen, of Massillon, his former
pastor and Rev. N.W. Weaver conducting the services. Interment in the
Loudonville cemetery.
