Ashland Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society
> One new member was inducted into the First Families of Ashland County
> for 2005 at the November 15th banquet by the Ashland County Chapter of the
> Ohio Genealogical Society at Celebrations by Sallie.
> Requirements for induction into First Families include proving the
> applicant's ancestors were living in Ashland County prior to 1850, and
> there is a direct lineage from the ancestor to the applicant.
> Applications for the 2006 induction are to be completed by Aug. 31 and
> are available at the Ashland County Genealogical Society at Ashland Public
> Library. Applicants need not be members of the ACGS to apply. Cost is $10.
> Inductee for the 2005 year was Donna Mohn of Ashland, who reseached
the Ashland County line of her family pertaining to her mother's family:
Virginia Lutz Mohn was the daughter of William Martin and
Wyoma (Stauffer) Lutz. The parents of William Martin were
Wilson and Nettie (Robb) Lutz. The parents of Wilson were Martin
and Matilda (Wilson) Lutz. Martin was in Jeromesville
by 1847 and had 11 children, 5 boys and 6 girls. Many
descendants are still living
> Following the induction, Ruth Emmons presented the new officers for
> 2006 & 2007; President, Bill Snyder, V-President, Barbara Hart, Secretary,
> Jack Hutchison, Treasurer, Sally Spreng, Trustees Annis Strine, Carolyn &
> Karen Bloodhart, Corresponding secretaries; Vera Knowlton & Linda Funk.
> Noel Watson, then presented his thoughts and views on the life of
> Johnny Appleseed.
> The next regular meeting of the Ashland Chapter of the Ohio
> Genealogical Society will be 6:30 p.m.Tuesday Jan. 17, 2006 in the lower
> level of the Ashland Public Library. The meetings of the ACCOGS are open
> to the public and the first one of the year will be helping interested
> genealogists find their roots.
