Hi Lynnette,
Let me start with the Thompson line.
I find Norman and Harriet starting in the 1850 US Population Census,
District no. 7,
Kingsville, Ashtabula County, Ohio. I did not find him in the 1840
Census. Doesn't mean he wasn't there, I just couldn't find him. he would
have been about 26 and may have been still with his parents. (The term
"early settlers", to me, means before 1820).
Anyway, Norman ( born in NY) (a Tanner) and Harriet (born in Ohio) had,
according to the 1850,60,70 and 1880 US Census, the following children:
1850 Census
Orson b. abt. 1837
Wilber b. abt. 1840
James b. abt. 1841
Lawton b. abt 1849
Also living with Norman and Harriet was:
Julia Morrison (born in Mass. and an Aunt of Norman) abt. 1810
1860 Census
Norman now listed as a Shoe maker.
Orson ( Farmer)
Wilber (Laborer)
James (Laborer)
Abisha (his age matches that of Lawton ..Lawton does not appear.)
(Probably the same child)
Adora b. abt 1851
Julia Morrison still there. Place of birth now as Conn.
1870 Census
Only two children are still home.
Abisha L. (works in Shoe Shop)
Adora
Julia still there but her place of birth has changed to NY
1880 Census
Norman listed as a Retail Dealer in Boots, Shoes. His father born in
Conn., Mother in NY.
Harriet's Father and Mother born in NY
Julia still there. Lists both her Father and Mother as born in Conn.
Abisha L. ( Printer) is now married to Nell J. b. abt. 1851 in PA. Her
father was born in PA and her Mother in VA. (so says the Census)
Also enumerated on the same page ( 519) was Victorian D. Latimer (b.
abt. 1844 in Ohio. Father and Mother born in Conn.) He was a Retail
Grocer, Druggist and hardware Dealer.
His wife Hettie (probably a "nick" name ) b. abt. 1843 in Ohio. Her
Father born in Conn. and Mother in Ohio.
In 1880 they have two children:
Lena b. abt. 1866
Frank b. abt. 1868
More about the Latimer line later.
let me know what you think.
Regards, Paul
