Gayle A. Gladding
Windsor Township - Gayle A. Gladding, 89, died Sunday, March 31, 2002,
at UHHS Geauga Regional Hospital, Claridon Township. He was born April
19, 1912, in Windsor Township, the son of Maynard and Esther (Moss)
Gladding.
Mr. Gladding was a lifelong area resident and farmed the land and lived
in the home built by his great-great-great grandfather, who settled
there in 1806. He was a poultry and grain farmer.
Mr. Gladding attended Stoneville District School and graduated from
Windsor and Orwell High Schools. He also attedded Ohio State
University.
He was a member of Windsor United Methodist Church, where he served on
numerous committees, the Farm Bureau, Windsor Grange, Hartsgrove Masonic
Lodge 397, and was a member of the Grand Valley Board of Education, when
the present middle school was built.
Mr. Gladding enjoyed hunting, cars, motorcycles, fixing things,
convesation and telling stories.
Survivors include his two sons, Harmon and Glen of Windsor Township; his
daughter, Janelle Sarbach of Orwell; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Althea, who died in
1987; and his sisters, Bonita Slane and Dorothy Noderer.
Service is 1 p.m. Thursday, at Windsor United Methodist Church, Route
322, Windsor Township, with the Rev. Jeff Fatica officiating. Burial
will be in Windsor Cemetery, Windsor Township.
Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday at the Paine-Simpson Funeral
Home, 140 East Main St., Orwell, and from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at the
church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Windsor United
Methodist Church.
