I haven't posted my inquiries in a long time. All this latest action has
reminded me...:)

I have lots of information on the Fobes family. My g-grandfather was Charles
Miller Fobes (1848-1934). He married Lucina Tiffany (a brick wall for me) in
Wayne Twp. in 1875. She was born Nov. 11, 1855 in, I think, Mercer Co., Pa.
She died young, and I have never been able to find out who her parents were.

Charles Miller Fobes is the son of Franklin Justus Fobes and Eliza Bliss
Miller of Ashtabula. I have the Fobes line traced back to the 900's in
Scotland, and am a member of the DAR through Rev. War Patriot Nathan Fobes
(1758-1833). He is the one who moved to Ohio.

The other brick wall is the Craigs. My g-grandfather, Jesse Samuel Craig,
was born in Jefferson Twp. Nov. 1, 1866. His parents were Samuel Craig and
Maroea Pitts. Maroea is a mystery woman. But the 1870 census lists Samuel,
then "Cordelia, age 31, keeping house." I assume that is a wife, although
Jesse was a baby and his mother's name was Maroea. Samuel's obit says he had
five daughters and three sons, but it doesn't say how many wives he had.
Jesse's obit says his mother's name is Mary. Jesse's Bible says Samuel's
wife's name is Maroea Pitts. The oldest son, Henry, is listed in his brother
Jesse's Bible with a very intriguing entry:

"Henry O. Craig was killed by a train in Barberton, O, August 27, 1902 in the
evening. He went by the name James Hanlon."

Did Samuel have another wife, and their son took her maiden name? I am
having a hard time reconciling all these facts. And who is Cordelia? I
know that Maroea (Mary?) lived to a ripe old age because I have a picture of
her with her son Jesse. The name Maroea is on the back of the picture, as
well as in Jesse's Bible. Samuel's children, according to Jesse's Bible, are
Henry, Minnie, Ellen, Annie, Clara and Jesse. There are two more children,
which may be named May and William, but I have no information on them. And I
am totally confused as to why Henry was going by the name James Hanlon.

I'd be glad for some help on the Craigs, and would be happy to share info on
the Fobes.
