Perhaps one shouldn't necessarily 'feel bad' about falling for something,
but before forwarding anything to a list there is a responsibility to check
the validity of that which you forward.
There are a lot of folks out there, who while they don't have to pay Uncle
Sam for every e-mail they send, do have to pay their Internet Service Provider
for each e-mail they get.
I belong to 2 dozen list - by my last count - maybe more, and I got the 'hot
flash' about e-mail charges on at least 10 of them. Since I get around 150
plus
e-mails a day, that's an extra 10 times I have to hit the delete key. Add to
that
the inconsiderate individuals who send things that have no bearing on
genealogy,
such as; political opinions, religious comments etc., it tends to take its
toll after
a while. I'm not trying to put anyone down, but on lists, as in person to
person
conversation, there is a requirement for good manners and being considerate
and responsible in what you say and do. This is a very well mannered list, I
am on one or two that have a steady diet of flaming. I only stay on them for
the good info that occasionally comes across. Somedays it is very difficult
to not send the old 'unsubscribe'.
