Looking for the family of George W and Nancy (WALLEN) SEARLES.
He is my 3 great-uncle and s/o Gideon and Cassander (RUTHERFORD) SEARLES.
Served in the Civil War Co 3 91st regt Ohio Vol Infantry
Son William b. abt 1873 was crippled and living with his mother when she
applied for a Civil war pension.
Also a daughter, Emma Jane or Erma Jane......married but, I can't read the
last name written in the war papers.......could be Lewis, Seers, etc??????
War records indicate that they were very poor and that Nancy is buried in
Greenlawn Cemetery at Nelsonville..........George is buried at Corbon Hill
which
I think is Hocking Co Ohio. Any cemetery records that would show what
cemetery
he is in??? No other children are listed in the war papers.....I believe
this is the
same family in these census records......Samantha and Hiram must have died
young.
Since George died of lung disease......I assume he was a coal miner.
