CRAIG CEMETERY
(and Henry Nichols)

While doing research on my Craig ancestors, I learned of a small cemetery
in Hocking County--Starr township that is being desecrated.

The land was originally owned by the Sunday Creek Coal Company. It was
offered to the township trustees who declined the offer. The land was then
sold to an individual who currently has put a trailer home IN the cemetery.

I have been informed by the Prosecuting Attorney here in Logan, that
descendants of the interred are the only ones who would have recourse to do
anything about this situation. A reading of the cemetery shows mostly
Craigs, but there is at least the member of one other family buried
there.(Henry Nichols).

Anyone who believes they may have a family member buried here, should
contact any, or all of the following Hocking Co. Commisioners.
(1) Phil Stevenson (President) 1 (740) 385-8994
(2) Paul Napier ( Vice Pres) 1 (740) 385-5264
(3) Scott Vermillion 1 (740) 385-0234

You may also call me, Darlene (Johnson) Martin 1 (740) 385-0928. The
more pressure we can put on these people, the better. Alone, I can do very
little--with your help, perhaps this cemetery can be saved.
