Subject: [OHATHENS ] Infirmary 0-111& some bad news
Date: Sun, 2 Mar 2003 22:27:16 EST

Pages 0-111 of Volume One of the Athens County infirmary/poorhouse plus the
everyname index is online at http://oorg.bizland.com/athenscounty.htm; .

The bad news is that while transcribing today, I discovered that the original
filmer did NOT film pages 100 or 101 of volume One. I went through the index,
hoping that those pages were blank...but no such luck. those two pages
contained several names and families. There is no way for me to obtain that
information w/o seeing the actual books if they even still exist. If ANYONE
out there lives near Athens, and wishes to contact the Infirmary or record
holders of such records for those pages, I'd be really appreciative of copies
of those two pages or a transcription of them. I live about 2 hours from
Athens and would even be willing to come and get them if needed. I have three
small children at home though and running around the nearby counties doesn't
fit into a schedule where I have to catch three school buses a day. :(
So, until such time as those pages make there way to me somehow, those two
pages will remain blank on this transcription. I am very sorry. Nothing I
could do about that. I feel really bad for those of you who have been
patiently waiting for JUST those pages too.
Best of luck to all of you! Julie North
ps~ thanks so much for all the kind words everyone has sent in connection
with the transcription. It's a tedious job made incredibly thrilling by
knowing that so many of you are breaking down those brick walls through this
effort! It keeps me running to the library! :) Julie
