Subject: [OHATHENS ] Infirmary 0-262 done
Date: Wed, 9 Apr 2003 08:51:26 EDT

Hello everyone. I'm back from my week without a monitor! I apologize for the
delay. All work on the Infirmary is done on my laptop, then the web site is
edited through my desktop PC. I could not complete the web site until my new
Monitor arrived yesterday. (YEAH)
The Infirmary Volume One is almost complete. Pages 0-262 (of 274) are now
complete and online, along with an updated index.
I want to point out again, the importance of reviewing the index. As you
do so, you'll see almost no names that are waiting on transcriptions......yet
there are a minimum of four persons per page for the remaining 12 pages. this
gives you some indication of the lack of recording taking place in the index.
Every time I transcribe, I add multitudes of names to the index!
Due to my monitor problems, and volume of work I had to do to get these
many pages on at once, I do not have a list of new surnames to give to you.
The index will reflect them though.
The next order of business is the initial pages of the Children's Home, as
previously mentioned. The children's home records will give BOTH parents
names (in most cases), of those children who were in the Infirmary, and
transferred to the Children's Home. The Infirmary only lists who they came in
with, which is usually one parent. The Children's Home also tells what became
of the children.
The Children's Home Volume is set up entirely differently than Volume One
of the Infirmary. It's more a data table on paper, than written paragraphs.
The transcription data will appear in some format different from the data you
now see on the web site for the Children's Home. I will try to format in a
way that prevents the user from having to scroll from side to side.
Only 12 pages to go on Volume One though! :) I sincerely hope that some
of you have found this transcription as interesting and helpful as I have. I
love hearing from those of you who have found members of your tree through
this transcription and knowing that the find has brought that "breakthrough"
so many of with poor ancestors have been searching for. Thanks for the kind
words and great stories! Happy hunting!
