A funeral service for Roy E. Stimel I, 74, of Newark, will be held at 10
a.m. on Monday at the Newark Chapel of Henderson, Van Atta and Johnston
Funeral Service. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery where military
honors will be observed.
Mr. Stimel died Feb. 26, 2004 at Dayton VA Medical Center. He was born May
11, 1929 in Athens County, Ohio to the late James Roy and Nora Ellen
(Thomas) Stimel.
Mr. Stimel was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Korean Conflict.
He retired from Pinkerton Security where he worked as a guard.
He is survived by his wife, Paula M. (Pettibone) Stimel; children, Celia
Joann (Cedric) Nelson of Newark; Roy Ellet II (Sherri) Stimel of Erie,
Mich.; Larry A. II (Jill) Weekley of Dayton; Steven M. Stimel of Newark;
Crystal L. Stimel and her fiance, Steven Belt II of Newark; eight
grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Harold (Shug) Stimel of
Arkansas; George (Ruth Ann) Stimel of Newark; sisters and brother-in-law,
Helen Yates of Columbus; Jean Karate of Hilliard; Ellen (Don) Dalton of
Florida; sister-in-law, Ruth Stimel of Nelsonville, Ohio; many nieces and
nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by five brothers and
three sisters.
Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home, 59 North
Fifth St., Newark, Ohio.
