Thank you for your help. Regarding death "records"...can you tell me if
there's anything more available than a line on a ledger page for a death
around 1890? In Searching for the death of William White, I was sent a
record from Athens County showing the death of a William White on Sept 3
1890, but the name is so common, and there were more than one in the area, I
don't feel certain that it's my William. Can you tell me if there's
additional information from which this ledger line is written that might
offer a family member's name? Perhaps a person who provided the information?
Were there death certificates at that time? I also feel that there must be
an obituary that I just haven't found yet. Still hoping to find one. Thank
you for any insight you may provide.

Hello,

Hoping someone can help me with a date of death and obituary for William S.
White, b. Belmont County, 1828. He died in Bern Twp., Athens County, between
1880 and 1900. Married to Meriby Powell. Children Alonzo, Ezra, Ruth,
Reuben,William, Winfield Scott, Sarah, Elmer,and Amos. He also went by
Winfield S. White. Any help would be appreciated.

According to the Athens County Death Records, a William White died Sept 3,
1890, and a William F. White died June 13, 1891. Sometimes transcriptions
mis-transcribe "f" for "s", so you would have to get the record to make
sure.
