I am looking for someone who has done research on the James VORHEES family.
From a group sheet from another individual, James was born 21 Sep 1816 and
died 3 Oct 1886 in Auglaize Co. OH He md Sarah Roseboom 5 Jun 1836.

My problem is finding my wife's 2nd great-grandma's parents. Her name is
Ellen M. VORHEES SULLIVAN. Ellen married William W. SULLIVAN 17 Aug 1875.
Ellen died 4 Aug 1880 and William died 29 Jan 1884 in Auglaize Co. thus not
much info on them.

I found an obit on Ellen that states that her father William was a pioneer
in the county. Personally, I believe this is wrong. I cannot find Ellen
in either the 1860 or 1870 census or a female with the first name starting
with a M that fits agewise. The only one that fits is a Helen in the James
Vorhees family. She is real close in age. I have Ellen as born June 1851
and Helen age 18 in 1870. I could not find James Vorhees family in 1860.

So either
1. Author of the obit made a mistake
2. Census taker misspelled Ellen as Helen
3. James raised Ellen for William or she was just visiting
4. Ellen was born in 1871 and married at age of 4 and lied her age at
marriage (HA)

I still have some serious research to do but was hoping somebody already
knows the answer.

Thanks a bunch and good luck to me!
