I see Ohio Infantry but not the designation "volunteer," nor any 20th Unit
that includes a George Baker.

The OVI stands for " Ohio Volunteer Infantry"......Do not know why
that's not on the site - seems to me it should be...

:If he received a pension, those records from the National Archives
generally
:have a lot of information. I found birthplace of my ancestor,
height,
:coloring, etc. and details on his service.
:
:What is OVI? I don't see anything like that on the site.
:
:You can also search by solder name. A lot of George Bakers, and
several
:George W. but none that match up with a 20th regiment
:
:30 Baker, George W
: Union
: Cavalry
: 1st Regiment, Ohio Cavalry
