For those who may not be aware, a lot of the FHC's now subscribe to
Ancestry.com and/or Genealogy.com as do many public libraries.
It's a quick and easy source for doing research even if you don't pay the
yearly fee for these services at home. Also when looking on Ancestry, be
sure to set it for Soundex rather than Exact spelling to pick up all those
variations.
Someone said the other day that they wonder how this name was "supposed to
be spelled" and I doubt you'll ever know that. No standardized spellings in
those days and the census takers or other record keepers often wrote down
just what they heard, or badly misspelled names.
