son of Joseph of N.C. Joseph came here in 1805 He m 1801, Mary Judkins, dau
of James Judkins of N.C. and had 10 ch. She d 1971 age 84. Oliver m 1st,
1864 Martha J. Van Pelt who d 1877. He m 2nd 1870 Mary K. WEST, dau of Dr.
S.B. West; had son Simon

Dr. Simon West of Martin's Ferry, b Jefferson Co., O 1812, son of Henry &
Mary BROWN West. Dr. Simon m in 1838 Mary Zane Martin, dau of Ebenezer
Martin and had 8 ch. Henry West a weslthy man.

Bethel M.E. Church Cemetery Warren Twp

This cemetery is on St. Rd 147 just past Co.Rd 120 on the right going west.
It is sw of Barnesville. It is back of the church and is well kept and
still used. Some of the older section seems to be gone. Rev. John D.
Price, b in Calvert Co., Md came to this section in 1817. He bought first
in Sec 13 and later came to Sec 31. He then donated a half acre for a
church and graveyard. The church was built in 1832 by Peter Hamilton and
John Hays and was a log church. Mr. Price invited Rev. Avery WEST to preach
the first sermon. Before the church was erected they met at the home of
John Reed in Sec 31. The first burial in the graveyard was that of Thomas
Price, son of Rev. John D. Price in 1832

William Hyde b near Middletown, Wash. Co., Pa in 1799, son of Thos &
Catherine WALKER Hyde. Thomas of Welsh descent and Catherine of German.
Thomas an early pioneer of Wash. Co., Pa He d 1814, age 60, His wife d 1868
age 90. Wm to Colerain Twp, in this county in 1815, then returned to Pa,
then back here in 1823. He m in 1837 to Harriet WEST, dau of Avery &
Elizabeth West. 5 Ch.

York Twp Pioneers

Otho West b this twp, 9/9/1830; m in 1854 to Sarah Howard, b 12/6/1843, in
this county, and had 3 sons & 3 daus. Sarah d in 1867 and he m 2nd to Mary
E. Wallace and had 1 son & 2 daus.
