I have THE HISTORY OF BARNESVILLE, by Sheppard, and the only McFarland
mentioned in it is Mary, who gave an essay at a Cambridge High School
program, in 1892. THE CENTENNIAL HISTORY OF BELMONT COUNTY has a lot of
McFarlands, but none of your names are included.
Have you looked in the census for any McFarlands in the Barnesville
area? Have you gotten death certificates for Alva and Ida? Have you
searched the local newspapers for obits for them?.... always a great source
of genealogical information.
You're talking about relatively late dates...the Ohio Historical Center in
Columbus is on line and has listings of their filmed newspapers. Have you
checked cemetery records in their area, hoping to find their birth and death
dates on their markers?

information about the family of my grandmother, Faye McFarland. I have
searched extensively and can't find any reference to her parents anywhere.

McFarland and Ida Bishop on Aug. 7, 1921. They lived in Barnesville. Alva
& Ida also had a son, Earl, who was born Dec. 10, 1912, and two other
daughters, Hazel & Mildred, whose birthdates I do not have.

divorced five to seven years later, and Faye married an Andrew Reed of
Martin, Kentucky.

fairly simple matter to find Alva & Ida, but quite the contrary.
