Sandra et al.- on subject of toll roads in Pultney Township. I have
a picture, circa 1880's of my Grandfather Elijah Smith Brown (b.1843)
standing in front of his house where he collected the toll on road between
Bellaire and Neffs. This is in the area of Trough Run and McMahon Creek
and is today part of state road 149 which connects into SR147 going
west to Barnesville.
Elijah Smith Brown married Elizabeth Merrit Tarbet (m. 1867 Belmont CO.)
My mother Elizabeth NMN Brown (b. 1881 d.1956 ) was their daughter.
and she married (m1904) Harry Allen Dixon ( b 1878 d.1968 ) my father.
I have very little information about the Brown's of Trought Run and
would appreciate a contact from anyone who can add to my research.
