I think you might be talking about the Wilson Scrapbooks; they were
available at the Barnesville Public Library in Barnesville, Belmont Co.,
Ohio. The last time I was over there a few years ago; I believe they were
discussing xeroxing them and possibly making an imdex. These are regular
books that a woman in the late 1800s through the 1930s; cut whatever
interested her out of the local paper and pasted it into the book. The
earliest ones are more fluff than obits and such; but as time goes on the
percentage of obits, marriages and such increase. But for the earliest ones;
this is your only hope for finding an obit.
Also at the Barnesville Library they had taken an old cart catalog
cabinet and turned it into an obituary index. Each index is cut out and
taped to an index card and the cards are sorted into alphabetical order; so
it is easy to look for any name.
Hope this helps someone. Remember though it has been probably 5 years
since I have been there and things do change in time; so doublecheck.
