Hi, Everyone:

After the recent purchase of photos of trolleys in the Wheeling Area, I added
some of them to the Wheeling Area Genealogical Society website. Some of the
people in the pictures are named. - I have many more to add.

With few exceptions, the photos are part of the collection of photos taken by
Mr. William J. B. Gwinn, who lived in Wheeling and then in Bridgeport for
many years. He died in 1976. He was originally from Summers County, WV and it
seems that his occupation as a motorman is the reason for his move to the
Wheeling Area.

I have included the information about the early "transportation facilities"
found in various history books. There is an article Mr. Gwinn wrote for
Goldenseal Magazine. Also included is a newspaper article about the 1926 crash of a
Mozart trolley that was published in the WAGS newsletter this month.

Some of the photos were provided by Phyllis Dye Slater. Mr. Gwinn gave her
copies of the pictures, which were of interest to her because her father, Cecil
Dye, was a trolley conductor and was in some of the pictures.

I have bought a whole album of the pictures related to Mr. Gwinn's career and
I will add those when I receive them. - I will also be adding the names of
the men in the photo, already online, of a large group of men at the Island
Barn.

I found these pictures and the history very interesting and I hope you will,
too.
