I have William McGaughey b. 1774 (MD?) d. 1834 Belmont Co. who married
Ann Boyd b. ?, d. 1832 Belmont Co. The name is sometimes spelled McGaughy,
and the family seems to have come from Harford Co, MD with a number of other
settlers.

There is a small cemetery for the family in section 10 of Smith Twp. on
farm land
that was originally theirs. William moved to Belmont Co., OH in 1810.
He served in the War of 1812 from Ohio, private in Capt. John Howell's
company of infantry, 1st regiment, Ohio militia, served 3 SEP 1813 until
2 MAR 1814.

William's son James Gordon McGaughey b. 1828 d. 1900 m. 1848 Hannah Jane
Street
b. 1827 d. 1906. My great-grandfather is James' son Hiram Clark McGaughey
b. 1858 Belmont Co., d. 1911 Chandler, OK.

I am having trouble locating the family prior to moving Belmont Co., and
also
am not able to identify the parents of Ann Boyd, but she is likely the
daughter
of Cyrus Boyd, of Goshen Twp.
