Hello,

Thank you all for the feedback on Thornton. I know Shick and Vandament
were in Clark twp, so they may have named children after favorite neighbors,
or who knows? I believe the Scothorns came from VA to OH, and the Rogers
from NC to TN, so those children may have been named after the Thorntons of VA.
It's always so interesting to me how these families moved together to
the same areas and married neighbors. I just finished reading a book about
Hannastown, PA, and although it was a novel, it was an historical novel
and kept to the facts as far as the history. It was really interesting to
read how families lived. How dangerous it was, and how tenuous life was
to them! We owe a lot to their bravery and tenacity.
I'll have to do some more research on the families before they got to
Brown County to determine the reasons for the Thornton's!
