Looking for the parents of James William Pitzer, b. 15 Oct 1821 probably in Berkeley County, VA (now WV). He married Anna Elizabeth Shank 26 Dec 1844 in Martinsburg, Berkeley County. She was the daughter of John Shank and Susan Hoke. They owned a farm in Berkeley County until about 1855 when the family moved to Brown County, OH and later Highland County, OH. Of 11 children of James and Anna, 6 lived to adulthood:

Mary Susan Pitzer, 11 Aug 1848 - 05 Oct 1870
Elizabeth Emma Pitze, 06 Oct 1854 - 11 May 1942
Amanda Helen Pitzer, 23 Sep 1860 - 19 Jan 1929
James Henry Pitzer, 23 May 1863 - 16 Mar 1916
Charles Anderson Pitzer, 24 Apr 1867 - 1940
