Dear Linda~ Ruth Watson(b.1812) was my gggGM married
to my gggGF James Brooks in 1831 in Brown Co.OH... Bible
records I have say that Ruth was the dau. of Wm.&"Minty"
Watson...poss. maiden name of Minty was Thompson...Do
you have any further info to verify... I know that James Brooks
was born in PA 11-6-1810, the son of John & Martha Brooks.
We have reached a rock wall going any further back on the
Brooks line~ John Brooks brought his family down the Ohio
River from PA sometime before 1820 and first settled in
Hamilton Co.OH, but James & others soon moved to Brown
Co....I have info that suggests that the Brooks's & Watsons
lived near each other while in Hamilton Co. (1830 census)
James appears to follow the Watsons to Brown Co., where
he married Ruth... it might've been another "Watson" family
that lived near the Brooks's in Anderson twp. in Hamilton Co.,
but it appears to fit (Brooks's were line#204 & Watson's were
line#149) Do you have any marriage info on Wm. & Minty?
I found something curious (and evidently flawed) on Ancestry.com's family trees section...it was a line that had
Ruth Watson(b.1812) m.James Brooks, who was the dau. of
William Watson and Hannah Dunham... Hannah Dunham's
line can be traced back to a Mayflower passenger... Any
info you might be able to pass on to me would be greatly appreciated... esp. about further data on Brook's line...
THANK YOU!
