Carol I just read your message this morning. I beleive James Cochran came from Mason County, Kentucky across the river. I searched my records for him and nothing came up. They moved to Brownville,Nemaha County, Nebraska soon after their marriage. He had a daughter by a previous marriage. I don't know whether they seperated, but my ggrandmother had to support her daughters by working a hotel. Sorry that's all I know of him.
