(Includes Lane, Lain, Laine, Layne)
I am not running this one myself, but I have linked to it from my site at http://lainfamily.com/
Projects like these are great for knocking down brick walls and finding new cousins...
For more on the value of genetic genealogy research peruse the following:
World Wide Public DNA Database
http://www.ysearch.org/
Family Tree DNA
http://www.familytreedna.com/
University of Arizona
http://www.arl.arizona.edu/
On a personal note, I will sponsor the first male LAIN surname bearing cousin of mine that
wishes
to participate on behalf of our common line to help knock down some of our brick walls and such.
Contact the project coordinator to inquire about specifics in regards to sponsoring someone
else.
You, should thoroughly read the information on the site so that you know this project and 1000's
like are being conducted by the University of Arizona, whom retains the samples for 25 years for
further analysis as DNA technology evolves. This is done in coordination with Family Tree DNA
whom
provides the gateway and the ability to get a substantially reduced group rate on surname DNA
projects such as this.
The Lane/Lain/Laine/Layne Surname DNA Project at http://lanedna.home.att.net/ is your porthole
to
this exciting new genealogical research tool for our surname of common interest.
Best Regards,
