Subject: Brown Co. cemetery question?Lookup request
Date: Tue, 2 Aug 2005 08:34:51 EDT
HI:
I'm researching my ggg-grandparents WILSON COWEN and MIHALY (HIGHWARDEN)
COWEN. Wilson was married to ELIZA (maiden name?) before Mihaly.
Wilson and Mihaly disappear from the U.S. Census after 1870, when both were
in their 60s. I believe they died between 1870 and 1880. They came to Brown Co.
in 1850, probably from Tenn.
Would someone with access to county cemetery records please check to see if
either of them are buried in Brown Co.?
These people were African American. I haven't done much research on county
cemeteries, but as far as I know there were segregated burial sections in the
two county cemeteries I've visited, at Red Oak Presbyterian Church and in Ripley
proper (don't know the name of the one I went to in Ripley but my family
members are buried in both cemeteries).
Thanks for all assistance,
Kberry
