According to family lore my 3rd gr grandmother Catherine Beall (!815-1855)
swam the Ohio to elope with her husband Hiram Pumphrey. The marriage took
place in the early 1830's. There is no record of it in Jefferson County Ohio
where census data says she came from. I've recently found that Beall's were
also in Butler County. Catherine Beall's cousin was a General in the civil
war. I believe he was William Nelson Rector Beall from Bardstown Kentucky who
was a West Point graduated and had a gr grandson Frank Ambler Camm who also
was a grad of West point ~ 1943.
Am looking for the Beall Cemetery. Ninian D. 4/1831 and Mary D. 2/1843. The
map I have says Jefferson County Ohio, but cities in the area are Bethany and
Wellsburg. If any of this sounds familiat to Beall reasearcher's in Butler
