Hallo to everyone out there from across the 'pond'
I saw on the V.98 #181 a mention on industry in Middletown and as my
ancestors were connected with the paper companies in Middletown I thought
Icould add my interests there.

This is my first time to this list and this is going to be rather a long
epistle so I hope it won't be too boring. I need help in finding some long
lost relatives. and other information on the long dead ones.

In the beginning, the family of George and Ann ROBERTS went to the USA
from Orpington, Kent,England in 1871, they and their children settled in
Agawam, Massachusetts. One of their daughters,
Emily married James SALTER and made their home for many years in
Middletown, Ohio, they had 4 children:
1st. James jnr. who married Marie Glock and had 1 daughterJane Catherine.
2nd. Edith
3rd. Henrietta
4th. Robert who married Dorothea Heath and had a son Mark Heath SALTER
Jane and Mark Heath SALTER may still be alive, please contact me.

A sister of George ROBERTS, Frances and her husband Thomas HARVEY (my 2 x
Gt. Aunt and Uncle) also arrived in the USA in 1872, they went to
Connecticut, Mass. and, Canada,then back to the US to finally settle in
Middletown, Butler Co. in 1899. Thomas to take a position in what was later
the GARDNER & HARVEY PAPER COMPANY. Both he and Frances became very active
in civic affairs of the town and in the Methodist Episcopal Church of
Middletown as well as the Masons.
Does anyone know of this paper Company and the church?
Their had 2 sons George and Tom who erected a monumental fountain in memory
of their mother, Frances, which stands beside the church.
1st.George married Eliza Jane ROSS they had 1 son:
Arthur Ross HARVEY married Ruth Louise BUNNELL of Middletown and had 1
daughter:
Marabelle who married John Mark ROBERTSON and have 1 daughter:
Sarah Louise was born in 1950 and maybe still alive today and married with
children of her own.

2nd.Tom HARVEY married twice the 2nd time to Sarah PINCHAM of London,
England and had 3 sons:
1st. Harold Allport HARVEY born Chicago, Illinois and last I heard lived in
California somewhere but doesn't seem to have had children.
2nd. George Edward HARVEY born 1907 New Jersey, married Beatrice BEATTY of
Middletown.
George was the owner of Harvey Transfer Company of Franklin, Ohio. They had
2 daughters:
1. Suzanne born 1934, Middletown.
2. Saralee born 1940, Middletown.
The 2 girls must still be alive, Suzanne the same age as myself.

3rd. Gardner born 1910 in Middletown, married Elizabeth Catherine SMITH of
Middletown, a school teacher, in 1936. they had no children.
Gardner died in Coos Bay I believe, in 1979. In 1952 he compiled most of
the family history in America, of which I have a copy.
I would love to know more especially of the children who may still be
around today as I can add to the history of the family by the information I
have gathered about the English side, of which I am one.
Can anyone in Middletown be of help, I would be very grateful?
