We might have a connection - I received the following info from Becky Hilbert. Please let me know if we are related:
Sandi
Info below:
Jacob Ruffing was the son of Johannes (Jean) Ruffing and Catharine Muller. They were married 17 October 1752 at Mittelbexbach. I am imagining that this was a love match, because the Ruffing's were "died in the wool" Catholics, and Catharine Muller was "Calvinist". There are several lengthy notations in the church records regarding this unlikely match. It does appear that Catharine converted to Catholicism, and eventually, mention of her Calvinist parentage subsided.
There is also a web site regarding this family.
