I have traced my Le Sourd line from Maryland to Butler County. I'm having
difficulty finding them in the census records since each census taker
spelled their last name differently. I have input every spelling I can
think of and haven't come up with much.
What I do know is that Peter Le Sourd (spelled Lasourd) was in Liberty
township in 1860 with his wife Sarah and their daughter, Elizabeth. All
three were born in Maryland. Peter was the brother of Rachel Le Sourd, my
4th great grandmother. He was born 8 June 1878 in Baltimore County,
Maryland and died 18 July 1865, most likely in Butler County. Does anyone
have any information on his other children and his marriage to Sarah? I
found several other Le Sourds in 1860 who weren't too far away from Peter.
They were possible sons: John Le Sourd born 1809 Maryland and wife Rebecca,
also born in Maryland, Nicholas born 1816 Maryland and wife Ellen, also
born in Maryland, and Joseph born 1812 Maryland and wife Rachel, also born
in Maryland. Who was John Lesourd, born 1796 in Maryland with wife Sarah,
born 1800 in Maryland?
I also found young Taylor Lesourds, age 14 (born 1846 Ohio) living with
John Marle and wife, Delia, in 1860. John was born in 1820 and Delia in
1821, both in Ohio. They had daughters Lora 12, Rachel 8, Valord 6 and
Sophrona 3, as well as Delila Hardnough, a 20 year-old domestic living with
them.
Any information to help me make connections would be greatly appreciated.
Cynthia
