You can find extensive information on this Peter SHEAFOR and all his 10
children, including Peter Jr., in my SHAFER / HITCHINGS Family File accessed from

Both Peters are my direct ancestors. It's interesting to note that nearly
every (if not all) SHEAFOR spelling in the U.S. can be traced back to Peter Sr.
(1754-1826), but I've never found any source for this highly unusual spelling
variation of the German name, SCHAFER, that means a shepherd, nor have I found
any trace of Peter's parents, or when he or they may have entered the U.S.
My own line down from Peter Sr. has always claimed a German heritage. --Wilene
