I also suggest the Soldiers and Sailors Monument. A quick look at the
database has both Huber and Stomps.

Julie; you need to lay as much groundwork as you can, first you need to know
what is available in terms of FHC, genealogy society, courthouse records
etc. I am sure the folks here on the list can tell you, but judicious use of
a phone book or digging through the archives of this site, oh wait, let me
look at mine  .   .
www.middletownlibrary.org  is a possible source of newspaper info, scroll to
bottom of page and there is a genealogy link that will tell you what they
have.
oh good I see others are helping too,  I would also suggest you post at
least a few more details of your family history here and see what we can
contribute, I guarantee you won't have time or resources in just a few days
to exhaust the available information.

The following won't probably be of much use to you it is a link to a local
paper from 1896 - 1900;

ntpage&hl=en
there is a way to search these but it is a little clunky, the next one will
get you closer, all the way up to 1920

Hello,

The last weekend of this month (April) my mother and I are visiting her
hometown of Hamilton, OH for a family history/genealogy trip.  She was born
in 1930 to Edmund Huber and Alberta Stomps.  Other names in my family are
Sauer and Biddinger.  My great grandfather Henry Huber owned a bar in
Hamilton that got washed away by the flood in 1913 I believe.  My great
grandmothers first husband which I believe was Jacob Morner also owned a bar
in Hamilton.  I also had relatives in the military.

We will be in town from Thursday thru Sunday and I want to make the most of
my trip there.  I want to find out as much information as I can.  Can anyone
please make suggestions on maybe what I could do ahead of time and what
places I need to visit in Hamilton?

I'm fairly new to family history and want to make my trip worthwhile.

Thanks,

Julie Schut
