My suggestion is to write a note asking about his research. He will
send you information on him and what his report will include, the cost
per day, items he needs to know, etc. He decides whom he will take as
a client based on the information you already have. You pay a deposit
once he accepts your research and the balance when you receive the
report.

Currently Duncan has an October trip and won't be back until late
November. I am not sure when he leaves.
